Module 2: Managing and Troubleshooting Mail FlowIn this module, you will analyze the components of mail flow and learn how to manage it, a critical responsibility for every Exchange administrator. You will study the differences in managing mail flow across Exchange Online, Exchange Server, and Exchange Hybrid deployments. You will then transition to troubleshooting mail flow issues, such as incorrectly routed emails within or outside your organization, or failed secure connections. You will explore the tools Microsoft provides to identify root causes and resolve mail flow problems. Furthermore, you will learn to troubleshoot transport issues, including network, connector, agent, and architectural problems, as well as issues in coexistence scenarios. Finally, you will learn how to review event, protocol, and tracking logs when troubleshooting service availability and message transport concludes but issues persist, or when historical data on past issues is required.Lessons

  • Troubleshooting Transport Issues
  • Troubleshooting with Logs

Module 3: Managing Message HygieneIn this module, you will learn about Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) features and functionality. You will also plan messaging routing for this service, which offers anti-malware and anti-spam policies to protect your organization from spam, malware, and messaging policy violations. You will review the anti-malware and anti-spam protection provided by Exchange Server and Online Protection, and learn to configure spam and malware filters, policies, and settings to safeguard users. The module concludes with an examination of Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), which extends EOP protection by filtering targeted attacks that might bypass EOP’s defenses. This includes advanced threats like zero-day attacks in email attachments and Office documents, as well as time-of-click protection against malicious URLs. You will learn how Microsoft 365 ATP protects users via features like Safe Attachments and Safe Links, and how it generates reports that provide administrators with insights into attacks targeting their tenants through email.Lessons

  • Planning for Message Hygiene
  • Managing Anti-Malware and Anti-Spam Policies
  • Managing Advanced Threat Protection

Module 4: Managing ComplianceThis module introduces the various compliance features in the Security & Compliance Center (SCC) that messaging administrators can use to meet legal and regulatory requirements. It also supports compliance in Exchange by examining features available in the Exchange Admin Center for Exchange Server and hybrid deployments. Given the complex retention requirements of modern messaging environments, this module focuses on archiving practices with Exchange to help you provide an efficient and compliant environment for your users. You will also examine how additional archive storage is provided, how messages are automatically processed and archived, and how audit logging in Exchange tracks administrator, delegate, and user actions in mailboxes and the organization. Finally, since organizations must adhere to legal discovery requirements (related to policy, compliance, or litigation), you will explore how eDiscovery for Microsoft Exchange assists in searching for relevant content within mailboxes.Lessons

  • Messaging Compliance in the SCC
  • Messaging Compliance in Exchange
  • Managing Exchange Online Archiving and Auditing
  • Managing Content Search

Module 5: Managing Organizational SettingsThis module begins by examining how to manage authentication for messaging. It focuses on ensuring user accounts are well protected and secure, and on deploying multiple security features without introducing unnecessary complexity that could reduce business productivity or create new security risks. You will then transition from messaging authentication to organizational settings, learning how to configure settings that apply to the entire organization or large groups of users. Finally, you will examine how to configure organizational sharing.Lessons

  • Managing Authentication for Messaging
  • Configuring Organizational Settings
  • Configuring Organizational Sharing

Module 6: Managing Mobile DevicesIn this module, you will begin by examining Mobile Device Management in Microsoft 365, as well as how Exchange ActiveSync and mobile device mailbox policies support this initiative. You will then explore how to manage and troubleshoot mobile device access. The module further examines how to configure access and infrastructure for mobile devices, understanding the implications of remote wipe, and learning about alternative methods for managing mobile devices.Lessons

  • Mobile Device Mailbox Policies
  • Managing Mobile Device Access

Module 7: Managing Role-Based PermissionsThis module examines how messaging administrators manage role-based permissions, a vital task for any messaging professional. Since both Exchange Server and Exchange Online utilize the Role Based Access Control (RBAC) permission model, this module covers the fundamentals of RBAC management. It concludes by examining how a messaging administrator must carefully plan and configure permissions to avoid risking the environment or the entire Active Directory.Lessons

  • Managing Admin Roles
  • Managing User Roles
  • Exchange Setup - RBAC and AD Split Permission

Module 8: Managing Recipient Objects and ResourcesThis module examines common tasks performed by messaging administrators, such as creating and configuring email recipients, lists, and resources. It details the different types of Exchange Server recipients and their distinctions. The module then focuses on the various tasks involved in creating and managing Exchange recipients in Exchange, including user mailboxes, resource mailboxes, shared mailboxes, mail contacts, and mail users. You will also learn how to manage recipient permissions and how to create and manage groups.Lessons
